Mobile App Development Cost in Egypt: What Actually Sets the Price

8 Oct 2026

There is no single price for a mobile app, because cost is built from specific decisions: platforms, the number of screens and features, whether a backend and dashboard are needed, external integrations, and running costs after launch. This guide explains each factor so you know what you are paying for before you ask for a quote.

When you ask “how much does an app cost?” and get wildly different numbers from different companies, it is usually because each company is imagining a different app. An accurate quote starts by defining exactly what the app will do, who will use it and how you will run it after launch.

1. Android and iOS, or one platform?

Most phone users in Egypt are on Android, but every business has its own audience, and a meaningful share of your customers may be on iOS. Modern frameworks share much of the code between the two apps, so launching both together costs less than building each separately, though still more than one platform because of testing and publishing on two stores.

2. Features and number of screens

An app that shows products and takes an order is very different from one with customer accounts, chat, map tracking, loyalty points and several user types. Every feature means screens, error states and testing. So write down the features the app cannot work without, and separate them from those that can wait.

3. The backend and dashboard: the half you do not see

The app itself is a front end. Behind it is a server that stores data and a dashboard where you add products, receive orders and manage users. If you already have a system we connect to it; if not, building the backend and dashboard is often half the work or more. Any quote that does not mention them explicitly deserves a question.

4. External integrations

  • An online payment gateway, which usually needs a merchant account in your company’s name.
  • Maps and location.
  • SMS and push notifications.
  • Connecting to an existing accounting, inventory or point-of-sale system.

Each integration adds integration and testing time, and some of these services carry monthly usage fees paid to the provider, not to the developer.

5. Design

A design built on your identity with a considered user journey takes longer than a template, but it saves costly changes after development. It is best to review and approve an interactive prototype of the screens before any code is written.

6. Costs after launch

  • Developer accounts on the App Store and Google Play, which should be in your name.
  • Hosting, the server and the database.
  • Compatibility updates for new Android and iOS releases.
  • Technical support and ongoing development.

Ask about these items before you sign, because they set the real cost over the year, not just on launch day.

How to reduce cost without losing quality

  • Start with a first version of the core features, then add the rest once you see how customers use it.
  • Use a shared codebase for both platforms.
  • If your business is a common one, such as restaurants, compare building from scratch with a ready product re-branded in your name.

An example of the last option: the restaurant ordering system we built includes a website, iOS and Android apps and an operations dashboard in the restaurant’s name, at a published one-time price of 50,000 EGP at the time of writing, because the system is already built and tested and only needs re-branding.

What to prepare for an accurate quote

The app idea in two lines, who will use it, the top five features, whether you have an existing system, and when you need to launch. With this, a realistic scope can be estimated instead of a rough number.
